Jesus, All For Jesus by Jenny Johnson

    December 2, 2020

Today I am extending an invitation to each an every one of you to The Table. But first lets start we how we got here.

We serve a faithful God! Last year I was intentional about making time with the Lord to seek his direction for the next year. Now I can sit back and look at how he fulfilled those promises. If you remember my posts, God promised to build a team that would be based on organic growth and collective thought. We would be a team that would work together to achieve transformational change for a just future through each of our individual giftings and callings. He also showed me that he was teaching us to dance, through trusting his leading. As we danced into a transition of leadership, we learned that God is a trustworthy dance partner, leading us into a direction full of open space to be filled with all the callings and giftings of our team. Covid also brought many curve balls, but every curve was not a step back but a step forward into a new mindset. One of surrender.

As we close this year, I want to share with you more on surrender. Once again God is faithful and has been speaking to me about this new mindset and how this mindset will bring direction and freedom into the new year. Over and over again this past week I have heard the same song play in my spirit. Most of you will be familiar with this song “Jesus, All For Jesus” by Robin Mark.

    “Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into your hands
All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into your hands

For it's only in your will that I am free
For it's only in your will that I am free
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be

All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into your hands
All of my ambitions, hopes and plans
I surrender these into your hands

For it's only in your will that I am free
For it's only in your will that I am free
    Jesus, all for Jesus
All I am and have and ever hope to be.”

When I went to look up the lyrics my first thought was it couldn’t be that simple. I thought I just had part of the song playing in my head. Then God spoke to me and said “Jenny it really is that simple.” What God has been reminding me today is that there is freedom in his will through surrender. The Word says in Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” We can rest every day in Gods perfect will because his perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18) Lets be honest though this is easier said then done. Often I find myself in total fear when it comes to walking in the directions God has for me and even this team. I feel a lack of control when I don’t know the exact direction or the final destination. I feel unqualified for the task at hand having never gone to Bible School or lead a team before. I feel worried that stepping into the unknown will leave me downing. Yet when Jesus called Peter out of the boat, he did so knowing he would have to help Peter and encourage him in faith to trust him! “Then Peter got down out of the boat and walked on the water and came towards Jesus. But when he saw the wind he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out “Lord save me.” Immediatly Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “Why did you doubt me.” Matthew 14: 29-31 As Jesus calls myself and the team out onto the water, Hes not asking us to look at the unknowns or the impossibilities, but to keep our eyes on him after all he is the author and perfecter of our faith! He has spent the last year teaching us the he is a faithful dance partner, and now that we know we can trust him we are being called to dance!.

Will we surrender and walk in his perfect love that casts out fear. Lets not look at the storm that is fear. The fear of failure, the fear of uncertainty, the fear of letting go, the fear of judgement. Will we instead walk on water in faith in Jesus and trust that he has a plan and its far beyond our wildest dreams because we believe in a God who slept through storms and walked on water, himself.

This is what all of this is about. Jesus. All for Jesus. His sacrifice for unity with the lost. His shed blood, not for the righteous but the sick. His compassion for those desperate for healing. His truth for a world corrupted by lies. His throne in place of mine or yours or any ministry! This is for Jesus. For the way he lived and the way he died. For the way he loves even when we don’t know how to love.

Jesus all for Jesus. All I am and have and ever hope to be. All of my ambitions, hopes and plans, I surrender these into your hands. For its only in your will that I am free. Jesus all for Jesus, all I am and have and ever hope to be.

What a great way to end the uncertainty of 2020 in the certainty we have in Christ Jesus. What a great way to walk into the uncertainty of 2021 through the freedom we find in surrender to Gods plans. After all, all we are, have been and ever hope to be is simply the gift of grace we find in Jesus Christ.

Lord as we close out this year we honor you for all you have done for us, and we walk in hopeful expectancy for this new year. We surrender our plans for your plans knowing that in your plans we will find freedom. For where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom!

In closing is an update and invitation.

First I am excited to share with you I have received a non-portable license through The Christian and Missionary Alliance of Canada, which essentially means I am a recognized and affirmed as a leader in the context of my apprenticeship. In my apprenticeship I will be exploring three questions: Who is God calling me to be? To where and to whom? What is he asking me to do?

Secondly I want to extend an invitation for your personal seat at the Table. We are on a new journey. Matthew 9:17 “Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.” As we surrender to Gods plans we see that he is doing a new thing through a new wineskin.  Isaiah 43:19 “Behold I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” We perceive that God is doing a new thing. We would like to create the space to listen, learn and discern what the Spirit is inviting us into on this next season. And I cant wait to share more on what He has been speaking to us. Crucial to this is community discernment. As we seek direction into exactly what the new wineskin is we are inviting you into this time with us. To join us at The Table, where we lay it all out before the Lord in surrender and ask him to come and have his way!

How this all looks will be apart of our next post and will open up more in the new year. But first is simply an invitation. Come to The Table all who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest! Lets all release what was, to embrace what is to come.

    Will you join us?
